IATC Hall of Fame Nominations
Recognizing Impactful Coaches, Athletes, Officials & More Across the State of Iowa
Do you know someone who has made a lasting impact on cross country or track & field in Iowa? Nominate them for the Iowa Association of Track Coaches and Iowa Association of Track Officials Hall of Fame!
The IATC and the IATO induct new members to the Hall of Fame each year, and the committee is always looking for deserving candidates for consideration. Hall of Fame members include coaches, officials, athletes, and other contributors to the sport.
To make a nomination, please read the selection criteria and complete the form below. You only need to complete the sections in the form that apply to your nominee’s category. IATC Hall of Fame Selection Criteria
To enter the Hall of Fame, a candidate must receive a majority vote from the Hall of Fame Committee and then must receive two-thirds of the vote cast by the Selection Committee, past IATC Presidents, and any other IATC members who are appointed by the Hall of Fame Committee chairperson. We make our selections at the spring meeting of the IATC Executive Committee.
Candidates are eligible for induction for five years following their nomination. They must be re-nominated if they are not selected during that period. In such a case, the person who made the nomination will be notified.
Here are more specific nomination criteria for each candidate:
For Coaches
- Must have coached a minimum of 20 years at any level.
- Must have had outstanding success at the local and state level and beyond.
- Must have received the respect of their peers in coaching and shown leadership and character.
- Must receive a two-thirds vote of the Hall of Fame Committee, Past Presidents, and designated others.
For Athletes
- Must have excelled in Iowa high school competitions at the local level, state meet, and/or the Drake Relays.
- Must have demonstrated outstanding talent above that of an excellent high school athlete.
- May have received recognition for performing in a manner that did — or would — make the athlete competitive at a regional or national level.
- Must have completed their high school career at least five years before being nominated.
- Must receive a two-thirds vote of the Hall of Fame Committee, Past Presidents, and designated others.
For the LaVerne Kloster Service Award
- Must have contributed to the sport of track & field and/or cross country in Iowa in some significant manner and be recognized by the Executive Committee as a supporter or contributor to the betterment of track & field and/or cross country in Iowa.
- Must receive a two-thirds vote of the Hall of Fame Committee, Past Presidents, and designated others.
Other Considerations:
- A maximum of four candidates may be selected per year.
- No more than one LaVerne Kloster Service Award is chosen per year.
- Final selection will be announced at the spring meeting of the IATC.
